I get an error saying,“Thumbnail could not be created for the image. Please make sure the thumbnail directory is writable.”
But when I try to change permissions on the folder the folder will not allow me to change the permissions.
    What can I do?

I am having trouble uploading images through your database - I set permissions on the upload folder but it still gives me the same error massage. - and so of the folders will not let me change permissions, ‘images’ folder.

now I changed the path in the upload preferences and i get this now:
The upload path does not appear to be valid.

also if I go to the file manager, and click upload file - the page simply reloads.

I even create a file upload destination, and set the preferences but it still says:
The upload destination folder does not appear to be writable.
