This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    Summary:

    - Something is breaking Structure + EE 2.2.1+ on my MSM sites.
    - Upon uninstalling and reinstalling Structure, it works on the first site (whichever one is set up first), but breaks on the second site.
    - After Structure breaks on the second site, MSM site switching in CP breaks.
    - I haven’t been able to confirm whether it’s EE 2.2.1+ or Structure causing this issue.
    - There have been changes and reported bugs with MSM and cookies with 2.2.1/2.2.2, so I cannot rule out the possibility that this may be related to one of those.

Here is my Structure support thread with detailed step-by-step analysis of the problem as it unfolds:  https://structure.tenderapp.com/discussions/problems/1313-serious-issues-cant-get-structure-working-again-in-msm-after-error

I need some help pinpointing what is happening here—or at least, help in ruling out that it’s EE causing the issue.

I can provide CP access if necessary, just ask.

    Hi Graham,

You are correct in your Structure related thread that admin.php is the recommended way to access your cp. I know Structure has had issue with this in the past and I have always had to revert to the system/ route but that isn’t always viable when you are masking cp access.

Can you confirm site switching works when you have Structure uninstalled?
You mention only uninstalling the Module. Did you also uninstall the extension?
Are extensions enabled for each of your MSM sites?

Are your MSM sites different domains or just different folders for the same domain?

Currently for all intensive purposes it looks like a Structure issue.

Give the Health Check add-on a run to see everything is ok there

    John,

Yes, I’ve spoken with Travis about masked CP access vs “normal” /system access. I noticed other add-ons were having pathing issues when installed via one method but CP was then viewed via the other, so I thought that might be in play here.

I uninstalled/reinstalled Structure (all components) via both masked (admin.php) and /system CP. Same result.

Site switching works when Structure is uninstalled, with the cookie config mentioned in the previous thread. There still seems to be a session/cookie issue, but I’m using a double subdomain on my test env (xxx.yyy.domain.com), which I’ve noticed caused pathing issues with the session cookies. Setting the cookie preferences + cookie domain helped a few things, but didn’t entirely correct it—details on this are in the previous thread.

Extensions are enabled. I tried disabling and it doesn’t change the effect.

I’ll give Health Check a shot and report back.

I know this is possibly (probably?) a third-party issue, so I really, really appreciate the support.

    Thanks.

    Hi, Graham,

Since this is all working without Structure in the picture, it likely is a Structure issue.  Do let us know what you figue out from Health Check and we’ll see what we can do to help aid the troubleshooting process.

    Thank you.

    Hi Lisa,

Health Check reports nothing out of the ordinary.

I was able to resolve the cookie issue of double sessionid’s by forcing the cookie domain to just the first subdomain:

    $config['cookie_domain'] = ".xxx.domain.com";

I don’t think this is a Structure issue. EE 2.2.1+ definitely seems to have issues with CP sessions & double sub-domains, at least my environment. Forcing cookie_domain to the first subdomain as noted above seems to correct it.

On the Structure issue, we’ve had some breakthroughs (check the tenderapp thread for details)... Looks like a duplicate key causing problems. Looks like this one is not an EE problem.

    Graham,

I looks as though you have sorted through all of the issues from the start of this thread. I’m going to mark this resolved, but if you still need help, please start a new thread.

    Cheers!
