I’ve been working with EE for awhile and haven’t come across an issue quite like the one I’m having with an older install (Version 1.7.0).

When I go to the Members and Groups>Member Groups page and go down to the Super Admins row, I see “(14) View” under the Members column.  When I click “View” to see the members in that group, only 9 members are shown.  For some reason, it’s not showing me the other 5.  If I do a search for a member that I know is in that group, they show up and they are listed as a the Super Admin group yet they were not listed in the group of 9.

If I login as that member, and go to Members and Groups>Register a New Member, I get a “HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request” when trying to register a new member.

Lastly, if I go to Member and Groups>View Members and click on the username of a member to edit their info, it takes me to a login screen rather than their account profile page.  I just continue in that loop and am never able to actual edit the member’s profile.

I’m not sure where to go from here.  I don’t have the option of upgrading to EE2 at this time.  All of these issues seem like they are related to a much larger issue.  Has anyone seen this before?

    Jeremy,

The 500 error is a server error and not an EE error.
Did your host recently make any changes to your server?
    Are you using any add-ons?

take a look in your database at the table exp_members
How many members in there and are any missing a value under the group_id column?

It looks like the 500 error is when I add a user that has the same username or screen name as someone else.  Should I get an EE error on something lake that instead of a server error?

Re: “How many member in there are missing a value under the group_id column?”
All of them had a value listed.  The funny thing is, the Super Admins that are not showing up in EE under the Super Admin group were early entries that I made when I first set things up.  They are still in the database when I go into phpMyAdmin, but they don’t show up in the user group when I view everyone in the Super Admins group.  I am able to see all new entries, but for some reason am not able to see those that I entered originally.

Also, I’m still not able to click on any users to edit their profile.  When I click someone’s screen name on the “View Members” page I am redirected to the login screen.  It doesn’t give me the ability to edit the user profile.

Here is an additional piece of info that may help to troubleshoot my editing a user issue.

If I go to “View Members” and select a user, I am taking to the login screen and not able to edit their profile.  If, however, I do a New Member Search, and type in a member name and click on their username, I am able to edit them.  EE doesn’t like me trying to edit the user from the View Members screen but apparently doesn’t care if I do so coming in from the Member Search area.

Since this one has been resolved privately with imageworks, I’m going to close this one up. The Member Lists Plus add-on was causing the logout issue, and missing member entries in their exp_member_data table caused some members to not appear on the member list screens.
