Limiting CP access in MSM with Member Groups

When I set up a Member Group with “Can access CP” set to “no” in any MSM site, I get a “User is not authorized to perform this action” error on login.

Setting “Can access CP” to “yes” on all sites corrects this.

My question is, how can I limit a Member Group to certain sites, if not by this setting?

    Hi there Graham,

What versions of ExpressionEngine and MSM are giving you this trouble? Have you tried setting up cookie domains for each site?

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan,

A lot is messed up with cookies right now on my server… It’s maddening!

    EE v2.2.1 - Build: date 20110705

I’ve set up cookie domains for each… The cookies are now correctly being set for each site. However, I can no longer switch MSM sites. I have to go to the admin.php in the respective directory to access the site, and only then, can only access that site.

How can I pinpoint the issue?

How are your domains set up? What do the cookie domains look like?

Turns out the Member Group issue with MSM was a confirmed bug with 2.2.1.

    Upgraded to 2.2.2, resolved now.

Still experiencing cookie/MSM site switching issues, but I believe this may be related to either a new MSM bug in 2.2.2, or with Structure. See thread: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/196834/

    Thanks for the response!

Have you contacted the Structure guys about this?

    Graham,

Since it looks like you’re still working with the Structure guys and have the above linked thread to use for follow up with us, is it alright with you if I close this thread up?
