    Hi to everyone,

actually we’re developping 3 sites on EE 2.2.1/2.2.2 on Windows Server, and everything worked fine up to this moment:

i made an Upload Directory, gave all permissions zu “everyone” (after permisions for IIS_users seemed to be not sufficient),we can upload images, rename them, delete them but after editing one in the Image Editor in the CP the only response is:

    An Error Was Encountered

Unable to save the image. Please make sure the image and file directory are writable.

This is a real needed feature for our clients:
Does somebody knows the problem and has a possible solution?

    Help is very much appreciated
    thanx in advance

    Hi Marc,

What do you have set for your Image Resizing Protocol? Can you see if there’s any change with the other choices?

Hi Brandon, glad about your resonse :O)

gd2 is set. I didn’t try the other two options. Could one of the other protocols be a solution?
And which one is in your opinion the best one to run without erors?

Meanhwile i tested ee 2.2.2 and it worked until i updated another site from 2.2.1
    to 2.2.2.

Could there be a relation between running 3 sites on 2.2.1/2.2.2 with one ee 2.2.2 FL edition
on one localhost (virtual directories in the default site on iis)?

This is temporarily for development until we get the go-live from our customers
    and moved the domains ...

    Hi Marc,

I usually leave it at the default (GD 2, I believe) but I am not using Windows. You may need to experiment with the other options a bit. I don’t think having multiple installations is going to be a problem.

    Hi Brandon,

but GD2 is working correctly: the thumbs are generated as they should be.
And the script causes the error 500: still in search for the reason ...

Hi, WOPITEC. Glad that at least the thumbs are being generated. So it’s just the resizing that’s the issue.. Were you syncing in the images, or uploading them?

This issue is also happening to me with 2.2.2.  All thumbs work fine with 2.2.2 and IIS7.  However, when I go to CROP or RESIZE any image with GD2, I get a 500 error that states.

    An Error Was Encountered

Unable to save the image. Please make sure the image and file directory are writable.

All permissions are set correct according to install documentation.

I can upload, create thumbs and rename images just fine.  I just can’t CROP, ROTATE or RESIZE any images.  Any idea what I can do to fix this issue for a client?

    Hi Marc and bgarrant,

I’m going to escalate this one to the dev team to see if we can get you a resolution for this. While I’m doing that, could you let me know if this is happening for all EE 2.2 sites that you’re hosting on an IIS server?

Thanks Kevin.  I have tested it on three IIS7 server and all EE 2.2 sites give same error.  One site is 2.2.1 and two others are 2.2.2 EE.

I tested an site using 2.1.3 on Apache/Linux and that worked fine.

Well, 2.2.2 is a far cry from 2.1.3, but even still, the vast majority of EE users are running Apache, so this issue is certainly isolated to IIS.

Keep an eye out for an email from me, both of you. Our devs need to actually get a look into your systems to see what’s going on.

I use GoToMeeting here and I would be happy to show them what is happening.  That would probably be easiest way.  I have a few sites here on IIS7 that we can test.

    Thanks Kevin.

Thanks for the offer, but I was able to reproduce the error on your test site, so I think we’ve got all we need from you for now. We’ll post back here with an update!

Sounds great Kevin. Thank for keeping me posted. I have to update about 8 sites once we figure out the issue.
