This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I am unable to see my site’s pages when I am logged into the CP while the site is set to Offline…as a Super Admin.
    Not sure what to do.

ExpressionEngine is up to date (2.2.1)

    Hi hungrysquirrel,

Be on the lookout for an email from me. We’ll see if we can’t get this knocked out in short order.

    Hi, hungrysquirrel -

First, in Security and Sessions, I changed both Admin and User session types to “cookie only”.  Then I realized your CP is at “www.example.com” and your front-end is at “example.com” (domains changed to protect the innocent, and all that).  If I removed the “www” from the CP URL, it logged me in both to front and back-end.

So, you need to be consistent - use www always, or don’t use it always.  Then it’ll work.

Let me know if you have any questions!

You are so kind. Thank you. I have not run into this issue before.

Again I appreciate your time and follow-up 😊

My pleasure, hungrysquirrel.  This does fix it for you as well, yes?  Please let me know, I don’t want to close this prematurely. =)

    Works for me!

Odd though logging out takes forever. It seems like I need to click on the modal background screen to get the page to load the login screen…odd. Wasn’t sure if this was connected.

hungrysquirrel - try clearing out those domain cookies, since they’re working a bit differently now, things might be a bit mixed up there.  Let me know if that fixes the slow logout.

Cleared all domain cookies with www and w/o then click once on the logout link w/in the modal window…but the count-down timer freezes for about 15-20 seconds….then wakes back up and starts counting down again, then I see Chrome fire off a http request and then a few seconds later the page reloads with the login screen.

Hrm.  Are you seeing any JS errors in your debug console, by any chance?

A short 401 error but this looks to be normal? On a super fast connection this behavior is minimal…at home it’s a bit slower so maybe this is simply due to a slower connection?

Thanks for looking into this with me. I consider the issue to be resolved. You peeps rock!
