Javascript no longer working on custom fields admin page

I have no idea what changed.  I’ve tried uninstalling plugins, disabling extensions, etc.

I had an issue a few days ago where conditional tags weren’t working with categories.  Someone from EE logged in and fixed it.  (Thanks!)

Then I had the Safecracker issue that a patch was released for the other day - I applied that.

Anyway, somewhere in that time, javascript was broken on my custom fields admin pages.  If I try to add or edit a custom field, my top menu dropdowns stop working, and the Custom Field Options section doesn’t display at all, so I can no longer edit those settings (and need to!)

I tried rolling back to the old files replaced by that patch, but no luck… so it must not be that.

    Any ideas?

I saw that there’s another thread that’s similar, but I don’t think it’s quite the same, and mine is not resolved.  I saw the other thread was closed, and someone said there were two threads about it - I want to make sure mine isn’t lost in the mix.  The other was someone who hadn’t logged in in a long time.  My problem just began after some fixes were made to another issue I was having.

And my issue is specific - javascript works everywhere except on the page to create/edit a custom field.  On that particular page (and only there), my dropdowns don’t work, and there are no custom field options at all.

The other person resolved their issue by upgrading, but I’ve already had that latest version, and applied the Safecracker patch.

Crossing my fingers support works over the weekend!  I lost an entire day today on this site because I’m stuck until this is resolved, and had planned to work on it all weekend.

    Hi, Dane,

Support is promised within one business day, but let’s see if we can get you up and running.

The first thing I’d recommend is download a fresh copy of EE 2.2.1 and reuploading your themes/cp_themes and themes/javascript directories.  Make sure you are replacing, not just merging, as we want to make sure you have fully fresh copies of those files.

Let us know if that helps, please. =)

I was tired when I posted that last one and reading it back, I’m hoping it didn’t come across as complaining.  I’d understand if you didn’t do support over the weekend - I was just really hoping you did.  😊  You guys have been awesome about support.

So anyway, I’d already downloaded the latest package (as of yesterday morning) and made sure it was all up to date.  But just for good measure I renamed those two folders you just mentioned and uploaded them fresh.  Unfortunately, no luck.

    Hi, Dane -

You did a full system refresh as well? Or just those two files?  The full refresh would be my next suggestion, so if you’ve done that, onwards and upwards.

(and no, didn’t seem like you were complaining, just frustrated which is totally understandable.  I would be too!)

Are you seeing any Javascript errors on that page?  Most browsers have some form of console/debug built in these days that you can open to show errors.  If you’re not sure how, let me know which browser and we’ll figure that part out.

Lastly - are you using and third-party custom field types? If so, please let me know which ones, and also make sure you have updated all of those to their latest versions.

    Thank you!

And again, thank you very much!  It was Channel Images.  I forgot I had upgraded that to 5.0.1, and apparently they did some fixes and released 5.0.3.

    Hi, Dane,

You got it all fixed up then? I"m so happy to hear that.  Now you can have a truly awesome weekend!

If anything else comes up, please don’t hesitate to let us know you need some help.

    Thank you!
