One of my clients is having an issue with the date picker widget. It does not show up in Firefox or IE on windows.
It works on Mac no problem.
Has anyone seen this issue?
Thank in advance for your help.

Hi, Alex. Let’s get a bit more information from you before we test this.
Can you tell us which version/build of EE2.x you’re using? See EEWiki:// HowTo Determine My EE Version
What about the version of Firefox and IE?
When you say DatePicker widget, you’re referring to what’s built into EE, right?
The reason I’m asking is that you might want to look at: DropDate which is a free add-on.

Hi Sue
The issue is with the built in date picker used in the control panel of EE 2. Mainly when trying to set dates for an entry.
I was able to test this on a windows system this morning and it worked for me on IE 7 and FF 4. My client is the one having issues and I’m in the process of doing a bit more troubleshooting on his system, maybe is the problem is with his PC.
I will keep you posted on any progress or resolution.
I posted this before I was able to test on a Windows system.
thank you

Is he perhaps behind any sort of a firewall? FF5 is out… Let us know what you find out. We’ll be here.

Is possible since he is in a corporate office. What could the firewall be filtering that could make the date picker not show?
I’m trying to get him to do a screen sharing session so I can see what is going on on his computer.
Any ideas what to look for?
I was going to look for any JS errors using Firebug, I thought that could be an issue.
Thanks.

When it comes to troubleshooting firewall issues, what I have clients do is to log in from home. Does the same thing happen to them? Can you log in as them and see the same issue?
Using Firebug would help. But you didn’t mention which version/build you’re running. That might prove to be important.

I’m Running ExpressionEngine 2.1.3 build 20101220

You’re a bit behind version wise. There have been over 180 bug fixes since that release. You might want to consider upgrading the client, but have them test from home first. 😊

So far we have not had any issues with the version of EE running the site. I will consider upgrading it if it will resolve this issue.
My client will be testing from home, which will let us know if the issue is internal to his corporate network.
If is network issue. Do you know if the new version will correct the issue?

Hi, Alex
If it is a network issue, then updating EE will likely not fix the issue. It won’t *hurt* to upgrade.
Let us know what you find out… We’ll be here.

Just a note to support taking upgrade on this issue with a little reserve for the time being.
- there’s a bug for the time being affecting the Date Picker which shows up _only_ with SafeCracker forms, in 2.2 so far. It shouldn’t cross over to this problem, but no sense inventing more.
- if the present install works except for the client site, entirely likely that the problem is there.
- Sue’s log in from home suggestion is very diplomatic, as it will highlight this issue in a way that the client can then get best reaction from his IT group.
- as far as what the problem might be, that’s a little obscure. I just tested, and the CP won’t let you even access the Date tab if JavaScript is fully disabled, so it can’t be that. Similar thinking about blocked themes, as you require those also to even start the CP.
- Presumably the customer has done a browser cache clear and workstation power-down-restart, classic solutions for blocked-something as Windows systems tend to get tired after a while, and don’t always get rebooted at work.
Best fortune on this.
Regards,
Clive
