    Hey there,

Completing one of our first EE2 site projects,  and almost near the end of development.

Up to now,  all users have been placed in the Super Admin group,  but it’s now time to create 3 or 4 new,  more granular Member Groups.

We have over 22 channels,  all with custom Publish Layouts.  When creating a new Group,  I see that the publish layout defaults to showing all fields for members in that group…

This can’t possibly be the expected workflow?  For each new member group that I create,  I would need to visit all 22 channel publish form,  and resave the (super admin) layout with the new groups checked??  And rince and repeat if we eventually need to add another member group?

I can’t believe this really,  so perhaps I’m missing a setting somewhere.  If I create a new member group,  based on Super Admin,  why isn’t the exp_layout_publish table updated with copies of the Super Admin settings?

Please let me know if I’ve missed something,  tx!

And the same can be said for the File Upload Preferences…

Seems like many of the new 2.x features are not at all well integrated with the “New Member Group,  based on…”  functionality.  Makes no sense to me.

I now have to go into the dozen or so File Upload prefs,  and manually select the new Member Group.  Is this correct?

    ira42,

I believe this to be the expected behaviour. Publish layouts and file upload preferences are per member group. If you create a new group then there is no way for this group to be included in already saved preferences without manually going back and doing so.

Do you have a suggested work-flow of feature that might work here that could be turned into a feature request?
