No CSS in CP After 2.2 Update

After updating to 2.2 my site appears to be functioning, but the admin login and control panel have no CSS applied. So the normal EE administrative UI does not appear.

I may have made an error during updating. I don’t know if this caused the problem:

One of the update steps is to restore

    system/expressionengine/third_party/
    system/expressionengine/templates/
    themes/third_party/

from my backup. Instead, I may have copied these folders to the server from my local, fresh copy of 2.2 instead of from my backup.

Thinking that this might have happened, after the update, I copied these folders to the server from my backup. It didn’t fix the problem.

I don’t think I used any third party anything in this fairly new site, if it matters.

    What to do?

Hi, solarsail. You need to make sure you FTP’d up all of your /themes folder, and if you had any third party themes, add those. Might that be the problem?

Sue, I uploaded /themes again and it didn’t change anything. I have no third party themes.

Notably, even the admin login screen does not have CSS applied or display the EE logo. If for example I try to visit:

    http://mydomain.com/myfolder/themes/cp_global_images/ee_logo_branding.gif

    the response is

You don’t have permission to access /myfolder/themes/cp_global_images/ee_logo_branding.gif on this server.

    This problem is resolved.

It was a permissions thing and I was puzzled because my themes folder and interior folders had permissions 755, and that should be okay.

But files within those folders were set to 700. I dunno why.

I set everything within /themes to 755 and now the login screen and control panel appear correctly.

Please tell me if this solution raises any red flag.
