    Could someone tell me if this setting considers comment moderation?  In other words, are authors notified of all new comments or only ones set to “Open”?

    Notify the author of an entry whenever a comment is submitted?

    Whenever a new comment is submitted, the author of the entry can be notified. An email will be sent to the email address associated with the author member in the system.

    You are sent an email when the user submits the comment. Its up to you to pick the status that you want the comment to be set to on submission.

    Hi ruraldreams,

    Did VIM Interactive’s reply clarify this for you?

    Cheers

    Greg

    @VIM, thanks for the help.

    Greg, It sounds to me like VIM thinks that authors *are* notified of comments that are not yet opened through moderation.  Could you verify that that’s the case?  (It sounds janky, I’m hoping it’s not.)

    Yes, authors are notified when a comment is submitted, it matters not if the comment has been opened with moderation.

    Which work flow would you prefer? I suspect it’s by design, but what would be better for you? (Tested on EE 2.1.5 beta)

    Thanks for asking.  Since you can define email addresses to be notified when a comment is submitted, these seem like appropriate email addresses for moderation.  So I’d want the author notification to work just like the notifications for people who have posted a comment and checked off the option to be notified of new comments.  They (I believe) only get notified when there is a new open comment.

    Hi, Christy.

    I spoke with Robin—this is by design. Authors are notified when comments are initially created, but regular users who are subscribed to comments (from the front end) won’t be notified until the comment is made open. You’d need to put in a Feature Request to change the functionality.
