    Hi.
If the Usage of Url titles is specified as ‘YES’ and a dot ‘.’ is used as a category url indicator in the Global Channel Preferences, the actual dot is not visible in the path…

I just wonder why the ‘.’ is not displayed…
This is interesting, since I would like to build a structure such as mysite.com/music/rock instead of having to specify an actual word such as category (eg. mysyte.com/music/category/rock).

Is there any side effect with this approach? Why isn’t such a simple solution documented? Any SEO duplicate content problem with that?

    Hi milk_,

A dot on it’s own is not a valid URL segment. You should specify a proper category indicator word. Don’t forget that this can be a single character if required.

Well, it seems to serve its purpose! I was just wondering how such a simple hack is not documented! Did I discover an hidden feature? 😊

    Hi milk_,

I’m not sure why that works for you. I would not rely on this to work in all future versions of EE. You should only be using the documented features of the system.

    Cheers

    Greg
