File Manager upload issues

Hi, Admin users are trying to upload files to EE using File Manager.

Various users are getting ‘The file could not be written to disk.’ and ‘No file chosen’

The users have been granted file upload access.

We are using Build: 20110411 v2.1.3

Any ideas on why it’s not working as intended?

    Thanks,

    Shine Marketing

    Hi, Shine Marketing.

Are they trying to upload one file and then immediately trying another? That’s a known issue with EE 2.1.3 which is fixed in newer versions.

When you say “newer versions” do you mean 2.1.5 beta?
We are using 2.1.3 build 20110411

Also, by “immediately”, is there a process that needs to finished or a page reload that would avoid this?

Sorry for the pedantry, just trying to identify a workaround if there is one, or set expectations for the client.

There is a bug that if you attempt to upload one file, and then try again right away, you get that error message. Click somewhere on the page, and then go back to file uploading. Does that describe the problem?

The issue happens regardless of whether we attempt to upload one file, and then try again right away.

By “newer versions” do you mean 2.1.5 beta? Is a beta upgrade advisable for a live website?

    Hi, Shine Marketing.

It depends. What I’d do is download the beta (by choosing to download one of your 2.1.3 versions, click on download and then scroll down to beneath the disclaimer, you’ll see a link to the beta.)

If it runs well locally, and you determine you’ll do OK with the beta, then implement it. But please do test it with any and all third party add-ons.

    Make sense?

We’ve installed the beta on a dev server and uploads via the file manager and by file fields in entry screens all seem to be running OK.

My nervousness is what might lurk in the rest of the beta.

Is there any way to just install the file module in an existing 2.1.3 site?

Hi, Shine Marketing. It’s not possible to separate out the File Manager from the rest of the install.

Keep fiddling for a while longer, doing tandem development with the two sites. See how it shakes out.

Any best guestimate on when 2.1.5 will leave beta? Are you looking at days or months?

    Hi Shine,

We’ve stated publicly that it will be June, so not far off. Thanks for your patience!
