So I opened up a section of my site this morning (that I haven’t been to in a while) to find that “some” of the relationships are not displaying the proper information.

    Here’s the setup:

I have an “Audio Files” channel with a custom field that relates to a “Speaker Info” channel.  In the “Audio Files” channel, I’m selecting the speaker that is responsible for that particular audio file.

There are about 350 entries in the “Audio Files” channel.  And now, about half of them have lost the relationships.  When I open an entry that is missing the relationship info, the required relationship field is empty… since it was required at the time of posting, there is no reason it should be empty now.

You can check this out at http://www.campforestsprings.org/media/audio

What might cause this type of behavior?

Well, how this happened is a bit of a mystery, but I can tell you how I’ve fixed it!

It looks like it might have been a crumby data transfer when I was pushing my dev db to the live server.  So I went back and got a backup from the awesome staff at EngineHosting and restored the exp_relationships table.  That fixed most of the issues.  Then there were only a few entries that needed to be manually restored.

I hope this helps anyone else that runs into a similar issue!
