Member Table Empty! What to do?

I received a call from a client today saying her site was down. Our hosting provider for this site (Pair) has been rolling out updates to their MySQL databases and required all users to update their db passwords as part of this update.

When I visited the site this afternoon, it was not down. Everything seemed to be working okay on the front end, but when I tried to log into the CP, I couldn’t, and furthermore when I tried to reset my password, my email was not found in the database. A quick look at the tables using phpMyAdmin showed the exp_members table as empty! I manually added in a new row, and did a password reset and now have access to the CP. The members that were wiped out were only administrators. We don’t let users become members of the site. Essentially all 10 members had access to the CP.

I am assuming Expression Engine was not the cause of the table being emptied, but I was hoping someone could tell me the best way to proceed. For example, the Author selection dropdown on entries now has two options: “Array [with a value of 10, the highest ID before the problem]” and my new username I just recreated [with value 1]. I know there is probably not a way to get post counts etc… back, but is there anything I should keep in mind or do, before manually adding back all the members. What are some potential issues that may arise?

Thanks so much for any insights!

    actsofgood,

Before trying to manually add back in this table, could you follow up with your hosts.

Did they do backups before they did the upgrade?

If you had a backup it would be very simple just to add this table from it
