    Hello,

I’m moving an 1.6.8 site to a new web server prior to upgrading to version 2.

Do I need to re-run the installation wizard to complete the transfer of version 1.6.8 to the new server?

    Thanks
    Craig

    Hey Craig—

First thing you want to do is run the Server Wizard on the new server just to be sure it fully supports EE2.

If everything there is ship shape, then follow the steps here to move your EE site to a new server. Since you’re moving an EE1.x site (and those instructions are for EE2.x), the following is different for EE1.x:

    EE1:system/config.php
    EE2: system/expressionengine/config/config.php and system/expressionengine/config/database.php

    EE1: system/cache/
    EE2: system/expressionengine/cache/

After your server migration, fully test your EE1.x installation on the new server to ensure everything is working properly. Backup your EE1.x installation on the new server, and then you can then go about upgrading EE1.x to EE2.x by working through this guide.

As a general reminder, remember not to upgrade your installation while the site is live!

Let me know how the migration and upgrade goes!

    Hi Kevin,

The link steps here links back to your reply post.  Is this right?

Could you provide the link again please.

I probably need more detailed instructions if possible?

    Thanks
    Craig

Edit: Yep, link was bad in my post. I fixed it! - Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

    Server Migration 1.x

I have now moved my files to the new sever and it seems to be functioning well.

The control panel login page and control panel however have no images and don’t seem to point
to its images and CSS file?

I have uploaded the themes file.  (Path) http://www2.masp.org.au/httpdocs/themes/

I currently also have the same install still operating on the old web-server, could this be the problem?

    Thanks
    Craig

    Hi Craig,

Having the other installation won’t affect this at all. I think the themes folder URL in your configuration is incorrect. It should be http://www2.masp.org.au/themes and not http://www2.masp.org.au/httpdocs/themes. Can you check that at Admin > System Preferences > General Configuration please?

    Cheers

    Hi Greg,

I have tried the following with out any luck?

URL to your “themes” folder:  http://www2.masp.org.au/httpdocs/themes/
    Theme Folder Path:  http://www2.masp.org.au/themes/

The install on the old server still works fine with the following paths.

URL to your “themes” folder:  http://www.masp.org.au/themes/
    Theme Folder Path:  E:/inetpub/vhosts/masp.org.au/httpdocs/themes/

    Cheers

    Hi Craig,

As far as I can tell your setting should be:

“URL to your themes folder”: http://www2.masp.org.au/themes

Please contact your hosts to verify what the theme folder path should be and then make those changes in your CP.

    Cheers

    Greg
