All databases have been restored, but running into problems now when i try to log into my EE control panel.

I can however log into the CP by tricking it.  The method is not important.  What i to know is if there is something in the admin tool that will “refresh” or something the database tables.

This is the error that I get when i try to login:

MySQL ERROR:

Error Number: 1366

Description: Incorrect integer value: '' for column 'id' at row 1

Query: INSERT INTO `exp_cp_log` (`id`, `member_id`, `username`, `ip_address`, `act_date`, `action`, `site_id`) VALUES ('', '3', 'superadmin', '207.10.194.2', '1304025211', 'Logged in', '1')

what do you think? any thoughts?

There is an existing bug report about a MySQL 5.5 incompatibility with EE 2.x but seems somewhat unrelated to what you have encountered

What version and build of EE are you running?

I am running v1.6.6. And planning to upgrade to v1.7.1. This is the version I am having the issue with.

I am also running v2.1.3 and v1.7

What version should I use that doesn’t have any issue with mysql 5.5?

Do you think upgrading to v171 will fix the above issue?

I’m checking with our dev team, but are you up to converting the site to 2.1.3?

well, I’d rather not convert it to EE2.1.3, its an older site, I’m just looking to make it work with what we have now.

I am up for converting it to the latest version of v1.7.

At this point, we don’t know if it will work with that particular version of MySQL, it hasn’t been tested. But just make sure to have a good backup of your database before proceeding. Let us know what happens.

I attempted to upgrade v1.6.6 to v1.7.1, i wonder if i am missing a step.

I followed these instructions:

- i have a backup of all files and database.
- i cleared the cache after i uploaded all of the files from v.1.7.1.
- Now some issue is happending with a plugin i have installed,but i can’t log into the control panel anymore. :(

Am i missing something? Am i supposed to run a update.php script and see some changes happening to the database?

ok i fixed the one plugin issue…It was with the randomizer plugin and i had not re-uploaded my copy of the randomizer plugin.

ok, so i found a different set of instruction in the legacy docs that i think is what i am supposed to be following, the lingo around the updates is a little unclear, or maybe it is just me 😊

So, i try to run the update.php script, i’m up to that step now, and i get this error:

Error: The following error was encountered
Database Error: ExpressionEngine will not run on a MySQL server operating in strict mode

I’ll be google-ing how to switch it out of strict mode. Does this mean our previous version of MySQL before our upgrade was not running in strict mode? What mode should it be in?

MySQL Administrator to the rescue…Under Startup Variables -> Advanced Tab -> SQL Mode textbox -> Make it so it only says NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER,NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION.

Then simply stop/start mysql and you are out of strict mode. 

After the update should i put mysql back in strict mode?

ok, i’d say this update was a success. The site appears to be working just great. This is confirmation for you that v.1.7.1 will work with MYSQL v5.5.11 in a Windows Server Environment.
