This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I’m trying to upgrade from EE 2.1.0 to the current EE 2.1.3. But each time, I only get as far as pushing the “I accept terms…yadda, yadda, yadda..” button and then I get the following:

    A Database Error Occurred
    Error Number: 1050

    Table ‘exp_comment_subscriptions’ already exists

    CREATE TABLE `exp_comment_subscriptions` ( `subscription_id` int(10) UNSIGNED AUTO_INCREMENT, `entry_id` int(10) UNSIGNED, `member_id` int(10) DEFAULT ‘0’, `email` varchar(50), `subscription_date` varchar(10), `notification_sent` char(1) DEFAULT ‘n’, `hash` varchar(15), PRIMARY KEY `subscription_id` (`subscription_id`), KEY `entry_id` (`entry_id`), KEY `member_id` (`member_id`) ) DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci;

    Filename: updates/ud_211.php

    Line Number: 101

    Please help!
    Thanks!

    Hi, Dana.

What you are experiencing can be caused by PHP time out issues.

Are you familiar with using MAMP or WAMP (some sort of local install)? I’d recommend using a local install, and import in your existing 2.1.0 database, and doing the update locally.

I’m embarrassed to say…I don’t know what any of that means

I use engine hosting if that makes a difference

So the email said that the server was probably timing out because of too many user comments and/or spam users and comments. Thing is….the site isn’t actually live yet - in that no one really knows about it, so no one’s going there (slowly but surely trudging towards a launch…hopefully really soon). So there aren’t any user comments (in fact, I haven’t even implemented commenting yet) or users (bogus or not) yet besides my admin user. In fact, the site is still pretty small. So I’m not too concerned with the live site being affected seeing as no one’s seeing it anyway. I tried going back to the backed-up site and trying the upgrade again, moving a few factors around. Still the exact same error message. Any ideas on what I should do??

Oh, thanks!!!!  The info is sent. I’ve rolled back the site to 2.1.0. Let me know if I should do anything, like attempt an upgrade again.

Hi, Dana. I dropped that table for you.. you should be able to upgrade now. I also uninstalled the comments module.. you can always turn that back on again.

    Sound good?

Well, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that the update was successful!! Yay! I’m now running 2.1.3. And the control panel is working fine. The bad news is that the url for the site itself isn’t working now. It’s a 404 error. Any ideas about that? I followed the update instructions step by step.

Thank you so much for all your help!!!!!
