Headlamp - I’m curious how your move back to the MediaTemple DV went. We are experiencing a similar problem. (and as coincidence, Foxee is one of the extensions we are using)

Our situation is very similar but with a few exceptions:

    - Mediatemple DV
    - Multi-Site (via MSM)
    - Multiple Weblogs in each site
    - Problem with category saving is happening on only one blog
    - The problem exists on the same blog on all sites (they all have a “courses” blog)

If you or Sue have any other insight into this, I’ve exhausted every trick I know (turning off all extensions, deleting custom category fields, trying different versions of Jquery) and I’m out of ideas.

openmotive, how about you? Can you tell us which version/build of EE and the MSM is you’re using? See EEWiki:// HowTo Determine My EE Version

openmotive - are you on MT gs or dv? I don’t use FoxEE, not sure if that is the issue or not. It might make more sense to split your thread out to a newer one..

We are on a DV server.

I just deployed all of the files to my local server and migrated a copy of the database down as well. On my local version, saving categories works just fine. This leads me to think that it’s a difference in the servers. I’m gonna go through php config and general server setups and see if I can spot a difference that might be causing this. If there are any particular things you think I should look out for, would love to know.

Thanks for being so quick to respond. 😊 One of the reasons I use when convincing clients that EE is better than Opensource (i.e. Drupal) in the long run…GREAT SUPPORT!

Hi, headlamp; I haven’t seen this symptom on EE 1 (there is a known EE 2 bug for this, but that’s totally different).

Have you done any data imports into this installation, by any chance?

Let us know, thank you, and thank you for the kind words. =)

I’m not headlamp. 😊 But you are welcome.

We did migrate the database (no phpmyadmin…using NaviCat which does a mysql->mysql transfer and has been 100% reliable across more than 30 domains.)

Er, sorry openmotive.  That was awful!

I meant more like entries and category imports, using something like CSV Grab, perhaps?

Nope. Haven’t done anything like that. All entries and categories were created manually via the control panel.

Openmotive, just a quick mention that I split out your thread, so it’ll make it easier to troubleshoot.

What about third party add-ons? What do you have installed?

Have quite a few add ons and had tested after clicking “Disable Extensions” and confirming.
However, just learned that that step DID NOT disable the extensions.
So I just went through them 1-by-1. Narrowed it down to Fieldframe.

From there, narrowed it down to the SC Category Select 1.1.3 fieldtype.

Since we were on the latest version of both, I decided to take a different tactic for handling that field that used that fieldtype so we can leave that fieldtype out entirely.

Now that’s done…everything is working as it should be!

Great troubleshooting! Glad you were able to figure out what the problem was. Don’t hesitate to post again as needed.
