I’m not sure what causes the problem. But I was going through my fieldtypes for a channel and adding information to the instruction field. When I click submit it says ‘Uploading (0%)…’ in the bottom of Chrome and the page freezes. Then when I try to refresh the page the server crashes.

This is the second time I’ve encountered this error in about 20 minutes. It doesn’t happen all the time. But when I try to access the control panel for my website’s host http://www.bluehost.com that’s down as well.

After about 5–10 minutes all the pages come up again and everything is working. But it seems that not only is a loop taking down my website, but affected other domains on the shared hosting as well?

    Hi Luke,

Have you only encountered this with Chrome? Have you spoken to your host because they should be able to verify whether in fact your other domains were somehow affected? Has this only happened with one particular field? If so, what is that fieldtype?

    Cheers

    Hi Greg,

I spoke with the host and they check the logs and found no record of any problems during those periods. I also spent a day using Safari instead of Chrome and didn’t encounter any problems either. So I’m not sure what this was. I need to spend today moving in and out of fieldtypes adding instructions for the client so if there is a a problem it should repeat itself today.

    Hi Luke,

Hmm, that’s certainly odd. Which version of Chrome were you using? Please do let us know whether you encountered this error again.

    Cheers

    I’m running Chrome 10.0.648.204 on a MacBook Pro 10.6.6

I’ve yet to encounter the issue again although I haven’t had to go back in to field types much. The error only seemed to occur when editing an existing fieldtype not creating a new one. So I will see how I get on and if the problem occurs again I will see if there’s a way for me to consistently replicate it.
