I have been asked by a friend to see if I can log into a website that is existing and running.

I have never used EE before, and to be honest am not great a navigating linux in general.  The site is hosted by slicehost on ubuntu instance.

The site appears to be running fine, and I was able to locate the EE login page, but do not have ANY information regarding this.  After some googling, I found I might be able to change the user name or email, within phpmyadmin?

Basically, this guys sight doesn’t need a lot of changes or added functionality, just some changes to some wording.  What is the best way to go about obtaining access to an existing EE install.

BTW, I know no info regarding the EE side of things, I do have root to the box though.  It appears to be running app version 168, nothing in the license number field, so I assume this is a core install, I have the db username, and its running on mysql.

At this point I am probably not even forming an appropriate question, but any help is appreciated.

Success!  After googling, I decided to install myphpadmin, connect to the essential database, modify the user table, and enter the hash for a generic password.  Worked perfect.

Now it’s trying to figure this backend out!

Sorry I don’t have a link to the hash I used but some google-fu will turn it up.
