    Hi, All

I used the SCM_Access plug-in in 1.x so much that I forgot it was a plug-in when doing inventory for conversion to 1.x to 2.x. Oops!

Was anyone else using it as much, and have you converted to 2.x yourself? If so, if I promise to send you a box of cookies would you share it with me? I would love to get the official Mr. Mark Bowen updated version, but I sense he’d rather not update/support it any longer. I’m not quite sure how the copyright/license applies in this situation and am not trying to violate it, but my emails have gone unanswered so I’m in a never-never land situation here trying to figure out what to do. I’ve tried updating it to 2.x myself, but I’ve failed miserably each time I’ve tried.

I’ve replaced most of the plug-in in 2.x with queries, but there is one last bit that just cannot be replaced with queries (since it is not possible to perform a channel on channel on query).

I’m over my head a bit and would appreciate a bit of help.

    Hiya,

I’m here but have not had any emails from yourself regarding the plugin.

I’m currently in the process of uploading all my add-ons to devot-ee.com and I would definitely appreciate it if people didn’t go converting any of my add-ons (free or not) without my permission first.

I will take a look at that plugin and get it converted as soon as I can.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Just sent you another PM. By the way I’m nearly always on here (the forums that is) and you can either PM here or if you can’t get hold of me that way then just put out a post on Twitter and use the #eecms hashtag as I’m always watching that too.

My intention was to get clarification on that, Mark. I always feel like I’m walking on eggshells with this sort of thing, especially since there are instructions on ee-insider on how to update older plug-ins. Had I not been truly desperate and spent 3 sleepless nights trying to come up with a solution that didn’t involve the plug-in, I’d never have posted this.

If we update a plug-in for ourselves or modify it for our own sites it seems like it is OK, but if we share it we’re crossing some sort of no-no boundary? It is so difficult to understand when we’re violating a copyright, especially when many of the plug-ins have settings we change anyway, and so many 1.x plug-ins are mothballed.

I did try to contact you—not sure what happened. Was about two months ago… doesn’t matter now. I FOUND YOU! Yea!

Your add-ons have always been invaluable to me, and if my lack of thanks or donations made you unaware of that, then two apologies are necessary today, one for failing to convey how much your add-ons help me, and the other for spreading the false impression that you no longer wanted to support these plug-ins. I’m so glad you do!

My circumstance has always made my meager donations just that, meager, but I hope that the size of the donation doesn’t equate to a rating. Their value to me is 100 fold my donation size. When the lottery finally gets it right, you’re on the list, k?

Anyone else looking for this add-on I’ve now placed both the 1.x and 2.x versions on devot-ee.com for the costly sum of $1!

Get ‘em while they’re hot 😉

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Aww you really didn’t have to go and do that but thank you very much.

Let me know how you get on with it. Any problems and please don’t hesitate to holler my way.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Seems to be working fine so far, Mark. Thanks… and you did it so fast.  I don’t know whether to hate you or kneel.

Hate’s such a strong word. You could despise me if you want 😉

Glad it’s all working for you though. Hope everything goes well on your sites.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
