created in html/css….I am now transferring it to
    expression engine.

I am a little nervous that when i install expression engine i will copy over
some files…..since i want to change this slowly.

    So..

1-When i use the expressionengine installation and update wizard…
On Server Settings…should i rename the file name
from index.php to lets say test.php?

2-I already have an images folder…
should i combined the files so i don’t lose anything…
Or I can change the name of the one i created..(relink…etc)

I rather do a little prep work now…so it would be a smooth transistion….
This seems pretty basic…but i couldn’t find any tutorials….would you know of any?

    thanks

It looks like the current site is using .html files. As servers generally look for index.html first then index.php you can quite easily install EE and run it hidden. Users will see the existing land page and move around using the defined nav so there is no reasonable way the should ‘happen’ across the EE install.

Once installed, use the admin section to “turn the site off” so if someone does stumble across it they wont get anywhere.

Also double check that EE wont overwrite any folders that may exist in the current site. Main folders:
/images - As your current site already has this folder just copy the content of the EE images install folder (not folder itself)
    /system
    /themes

We’ve done it a stack of times before and is quite a handy way to build a site without the need to have a dev server then transfer everything to live.

    Thanks for the assist, Cheif.

farberrifkin - Cheif is spot on in his suggestions. I develop this way a great deal of the time.

    Does that help?
