I have a site that has one weblog with a fairly rigid structure for the body. Getting the various authors that publish with this weblog to use consistent formatting for this structure is.. well.. let’s just say it’s a bit of a nightmare. What I’d like to do is: have the body field automatically supply the HTML framework of the various sections, so they just have to put text in the appropriate spots.
Yes, I could break it up into a dozen new fields. Unfortunately that won’t allow for the rare variance in format that does, occasionally, happen. If I /have/ to go that route, I can, but simply having the parts delineated within the body feels seems so much more straightforward and elegant, not to mention flexible; including replacing the usual structure entirely when necessary.
I looked at setting the default value for the relevant field directly in the DB, but this doesn’t seem to work for the publish page (which makes sense, why look at the DB for a new entry?)
If anyone has any ideas, I’d love to hear them.
Thanks!
