I’m passing these questions along from a co-worker.

    1. We are considering moving our PLONE-based software User Manual to ExpressionEngine. What are the administrative reporting options (admin will want to be able to monitor changes to the site, document status, page updates over a specific time period, etc.)? Please provide a link to the documentation.
    2. Is there a REVERT function where a document version may be rolled back to a previous version, as we currently have in PLONE? If so, please provide a link to the documentation.
    3. Is there an easy-to-use PLONE3-To-ExpressionEngine conversion program or process? If so, please provide a link to the documentation.

    Thanks,
    Brian

Hi, Brian. I moved this to pre-sales where it’s a better fit. You should be receiving an official response soon, I apologize for the delay.

Brian, thanks for your inquiry. I’ll try and answer any questions you may have about ExpressionEngine. Unfortunately I am not familiar with Plone so I can’t give a good comparison. But if my answers are not on target do not hesitate to restate or ask more questions.

It seems that a majority of your questions have to do with workflow within the CP. This is an area that ExpressionEngine has some capabilities but is probably not going to work the same as Plone. For instance. you can set up member groups and give them permission to write and edit entries but not publish. When the admin comes in they would be able to filter to see which entries are pending. As to what other changes you may want to see I am not sure what you mean?

Currently there is no revert functionality in EE and to my knowledge there are no EE2 add-ons for managing this type of workflow.

As for moving content from Plone to EE I would point you to DataGrab. I personally have used it for fairly data sets and it works wonders.

    I hope this helps!

I thought I knew what I was talking about but I was perusing the user guide today as I seemed to remember that entries could have revisions and I stumbled upon this entry. Hope that helps!

Yeah, I had already mentioned that to him. I wasn’t sure if you were getting something different out of his question than I was, so I gave him both answers. Thanks!
