    Hi-

    Whenever I try to create another Member, give them a group assignment of Members (I have also tried custom group assignments) and assign all edit priviledges and weblog access/control panel access to that member group (yes all set to Default Status) everytime that user goes in to edit a Weblog - it closes the weblog and dissappears off the site.
    This is frustrating and I do not know what I have missed.

    Thanks for any help.

    What version and build of EE are you using? The signup as such works fine, i.e. you as a Superadmin can add this user to the site?

    I am using ExpressionEngine v 1.6.9
    Yes, I am the admin and can do all of the things listed…

    Thanks for your help!!

    I should metion I own 2 EE Commercial Licenses, but since I had CORE installed to test and working so well, I was afraid to do anything that might upset the balance.

    Shawna_1,

    everytime that user goes in to edit a Weblog - it closes the weblog and dissappears off the site.

    Can you explain what you mean specifically by this?
    Are you talking about a standard login into the back-end or some SAEF set-up?

    Normally if I want a member group to access the cp area I would create a new member group based on the SuperAdmin group and fine grain permissions after that

    Let me try that, It is just a normal member login. But I started it from a member group based on the “Member” and tried to modify what their permissions from that.
    Thanks for your help.

    You don’t by any chance mean that the entry doesn’t show on the site do you?

    Could just be that you have forgotten to set up a default status group for the weblog in question maybe?

    Ensure you have one selected here :

    Admin->Weblog Administration->Weblog Management->Edit Groups->Status Group

    Ensure that it doesn’t say None here, instead you want to choose your status group.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Yes, I do mean that the entry drops for my site altogether and the weblog when you go under “EDIT” in the cpanel is marked “CLOSED”.
    All of my weblogs have the default status selected. Screen cap attached, hopefully this is what you mean. Thanks for your patience.

    A couple of things to check then :

    Admin->Weblog Administration->Weblog Management->Edit Preferences (Your Weblog)->Administrative Preferences->Default Status

    Check that’s not set to Closed. Also you’re not running any modules or extensions that deal with versioning or anything are you such as NSM Publish Plus.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Hi-

    Thanks for sticking with me. I checked all of the weblogs and they are all set to “OPEN” So i think I will try making a new user based on the SuperAdmin and pair down the permissions of what you can see in the CPanle and see what happens.

    Thanks again
