Hi,

Just upgraded from 2.1.1 to 2.1.3 and can’t log into the CP. CP is returning just a blank page.  Frontend, though, is working fine.  Any help.  It’s urgent please.

Hi Bashir,

Please edit your system/index.php and turn on the error reporting override:

$debug = 1;

Now try and visit your control panel login again. Any generated PHP errors should now be shown. Please post them here.

Yeah this exact same thing happened to me :/  Frontend was running fine but CP was blank.  I tried alsorts to fix but I had to roll back in the end.  I followed the instructions exactly as I hate updating EE.  My fears were confirmed.

Thanks for the response, but it’s too late.  I had to request enginehosting to restore/recover my last installation of EE 2.1.1 as I could not afford to have my site offline for another couple of days after waiting for a day of anticipating help from you guys.

I did everything as the manual says but badly failed.  I was unable to figure out what went wrong and why.  Can I live without upgrading to 2.1.3 or else…?

If you keep backups yourself rolling back to a previous entry wouldn’t be too difficult or time-consuming. Perhaps you want to set EE up in a sub directory or on a secondary domain? As Greg said, turning on error reporting would be crucial for trouble-shooting blank pages.
