Hey All. I didn’t know what section to put this under, so if a moderator sees a better place for this, please move it over.
Anyways, I developed http://fitwoman.com and the site was slow so we moved a ton of the static files to a CDN (media temple procdn). Before, the static files were being cached in the browser for subsequent loads, but since the move, none of those files are being cached anymore.
I tried putting this in my htaccess file:
<FilesMatch "\.(ico|jpg|jpeg|png|gif|js|css|swf|htc)$">
ExpiresDefault "access plus 2 hours"
</FilesMatch>But that didn’t work. Anyone have experience with this kind of stuff? I think it is just having an issue with wanting to cache external files.
Granted, it was a different developer that moved the files over to the CDN as I don’t have experience with setting one up. I’m not entirely sure he did it correctly.
He changed the domain name in the code itself (for example in the HTML):
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://wac.381d.edgecastcdn.net/80381D/css/css/sitewidecss.css" />Where the “wac.381d.edgecastcdn.net/80381D/css” used to be “www.fitwoman.com”
