    hi there,

with a new installation of expression engine:

    ExpressionEngine v2.1.1 - © Copyright 2003 - 2010 EllisLab, Inc.
Script executed in 0.0729 seconds - 18 SQL queries used - Build:  20101020

we are having issues with the file manager.  the _thumbs folder was generated as normal, but no thumbnails are being generated inside it, therefore no previews inside the file manager when adding or editing a post.

also, we can only get a newly uploaded file to stay attached to a post…  in other words, editing an existing post, and choosing another image from the file manager results in ‘undefined’ appearing near the file upload field.

i haven’t seen this before, permissions on the upload folder are actually set to 777 in an effort to troubleshoot.

    any ideas?

also, this issue started for us with the latest release of ee - we only downgraded to 2.1.1 to try to work around the issue…

    Hi, tomotechi.

Is the _thumbs directory still set to 777?

Can you post a small 500 pixel wide image? Does the thumbnail get generated then?

    Hi Sue,

I continued troubleshooting, and it seems the GD PHP library wasn’t installed on our webserver.  I recompiled PHP and that’s that!

    sorry for the trouble.

    thx!
