Hi,

I have built a couple of sites while following training material and I think I have the basics understood. I would like some advice on how to go about my next task. I have 3 channels titled recipes, articles and blog. Each channel has its own page and I don’t foresee any problems building these pages.

However, I need to create a channel Week which will hold 2-4 recipes, 1-2 articles and 1 blog every week. The page will show all content added this week and will have its own title, description and other fields.

What would be the best way to go about this?

Hi,

I am using EE2. I assumed I would just set the Week channels title to Week 1. I just do not know how I would group 5 entries from 3 different channels alongside my new title.

I’m not sure I completely understand the intent here, but if you have channels that hold articles, recipes and blog entries you shouldn’t need another channel to store date-based groupings of them.  All of these entries have an entry date as part of their data.

You should be able to code all that logic in a template, using the display by parameter to dynamically pull entries from the week.

The template might use one channel:entries loop pulling from all sources, or multiple channel:entries loops each pulling from a single source.

And if you need date-based headings/separators, within the context of Mike’s suggestion, you could use the date_heading variable pair.
