Installing Locally with MAMP

I’m trying to install ExpressionEngine 2.1.3 FL locally with MAMP and svn.

MAMP is installed, and it says the servers are running. I have the EE files at /htdocs/svn/repo/trunk/. When I point my browser to /htdocs/svn/repo/trunk/system, I get a prompt to download the index.php file instead of the installation wizard.

I was able to successfully access an html file when placed in the /trunk/.

A friend tells me I may need to install CodeIgniter before I can install ExpressionEngine (and pointed me here); is that true? It doesn’t sound right to me since I don’t have to first install CI when installing EE remotely.

If someone knows of step-by-step instructions for installing EE2 locally with MAMP, I’d appreciate a link. I could only find instructions for doing so with EE1.

    Thanks.

You will need to configure your server to execute PHP files at the location instead of serving you plain text files. This is most likely a configuration issue.

No, you can run EE very well on its own, too.

I believe the issue was that I was trying to access it in the /trunk/ which isn’t right. I’m new to svn, so I don’t have all my concepts straight.

Anyway, I created a copy in my /branches/ dir and the installation wizard is showing up, so I’m probably set.

Excellent. Please post again in case there’s anything else. Thanks.
