Is there a way to have two registration sections to a site?

I have one section working perfectly where people self activate and fill out applications. registering in this section puts them into a group called applicants with access to only the application.

I want to add the ability to have alumni register and provide enough information to verify their identity at which point an admin would manually approve them in the pending members section.

Thoughts?

Out of the box, no I’m afraid you are limited to one method

Using Solspace’s User module you could though using the group_id= parameter
