Suppose you want to use EE for a site with a public accessible and a Members only zone. The Members only is for paid subscribers but in order to get more customers you want to offer a 30 day free access. Upon registration, the Join Date gets filled in for a new Member. So I would reckon granting access is a matter of comparing the current date with the (Join Date + 30 days).

Is there a tag available to get the Join Date? Or even better is there an add-on available for this kind of stuff?

join date is a variable available, but it’s in the member module and as such I don’t know for sure that you’d be able to use it outside the member templates unless you were to install Solspace’s “User” module.  Then all the member module variables become useful to you in regular templates.  Then you could do a basic date comparison to determine if the different between the current date and the join date is greater than 30 days.

    Hope that helps.
