    Hello,

    I’m really new to EE.
It looks like it’s really well done and I’m looking into using it for a collaborative recipes site.

What I’d like, is that the site members could signup themselves.
The members could then create recipies that would get posted automaticaly.
The recipie owner would also be able to edit his recipes.

Other members could comment on the recipie, but not edit it.

Would that be possible with the stuff that is bultin in EE ?

If so, how woud you pull it off ? What setup of channels / groups / etc would you use ?

If not, would it need a lot of custom plugin/module developpement ?

    Thanks a lot!

Hello, bedingue, and welcome to the forums.

I don’t think you’d need much in the way of custom add-on development to get this running.

You’d create a ‘recipes’ channel and define custom fields you need.

Then, users could submit entries (recipies) to the channel using a Stand Alone Entry Form. I recommend looking at SafeCracker if SAEF’s are going to be the primary entry method for a site.

Hope that helps, and don’t hesitate with additional questions!

Thanks a lot for the links. That’s exactly the kind of information I was looking for ! 😊

On the same project, I’m also planning in setting up a Wiki for ingredients.

I would like to know : would it be possible to automatically link to ingredient pages if they exist in the wiki ?

Would the members need to manually link to the right wiki pages, or EE could auto-magically like the the wiki ?

Do you know if there Is there something in between ? Like wikipedia, where you specify it’s an article, and it gives you the possibility to create it if is doesn’t exist…

Thanks again for your help !

    Hi bedingue,

I believe our Wiki module does prompt you to create an article if it doesn’t exist, but I’m not aware of a way to automatically generate links to Wiki pages, so that would probably need to be done manually by the user (or a moderator after the fact).

    Thanks for all your answers.

One last question on that topic…

With the plugin system, is it possible to “filter” the content before outputing it ?

More precisely, would it be possible to implement that auto-link-to-wiki functionnality using an extension ?

Certainly, that’d be an ideal job for a custom plugin. Here’s our Development Documentation, and specifically the plugin tutorial.

Hope that helps and don’t hesitate with additional questions!
