Changing custom fields to MEDIUMTEXT

The process of modifying fields in exp_weblog_data to be MEDIUMTEXT isn’t a permanent fix, correct? In other words, that only changes existing entries; new entries that contain a significant amount of data (beyond the limits of EE’s default textareas) will still be truncated.

There’s got to be a better workaround for this. It doesn’t take too much tabular data in a field to hit the limit. I just posted some census data, and needed more than three times EE’s normal limit.

    Any ideas? Thx!

It is, actually. You’re modifying the db table structure and that affects all entries, existing and future ones.
