I am upgrading from EE 1.6.8 to 2.12.  I followed the install directions to the t…twice.  Each time, when i get to the step where I run the install at http://www.mysite.com/system/  nothing happens.  The install routine doesn’t run.  Does anyone know how I can troubleshoot this?

I just ran the ee_server wizard.  Looks like i needed to turn on PHP5 on my server.  I’ll give this a try and report back.

Yes, EE 2.1 will need PHP 5. Please try turning it on and let us know how it goes. Thanks.

Ok…Got the Install Splash Screen.  I clicked continue and got this error:
    A Database Error Occurred
    Error Number: 1105

File ‘./canyontreasure_com_-_ee_beckerz/exp_sites.MYD’ not found (Errcode: 12)

    SELECT `site_system_preferences` FROM exp_sites WHERE site_id = ‘1’

    Filename: core/Installer_Config.php

    Line Number: 165

    Thoughts?

This is a server issue. Error code 12 means “Cannot allocate memory”. Talk to your host about it, please.

I beg to differ, the error code 12 is not being thrown by PHP but by mysql.
It doesn’t have anything to do with allocating memory.

Not saying it has nothing to do with server configuration on the mysql part, it could well be.

I think it’s returned from the OS to the mysqld, but you’re quite correct, that’s not a PHP error as such, sorry for not making that clearer.

    Honestly, I think it does.

That’s what it looks like, yes.

You are right about the allocating memory part, I was thinking about in relation to PHP. Error 12 in Mysql is “could not allocate memory” and is indeed returned by the underlying OS like you said 😊

I hope the poster can try to fix it with this information!

I contacted media temple (my web-host) and they suggested I upgrade my account to get more memory.  Apparently i’m on a shared server.  I didn’t like the idea of paying more so I tried to run the installation again.

Vioala!  It started to run.  Got through several screens and the status line was whizzing through a bunch of updates.  Then I hit this error message:

    {"error":"
    Error Number: 1054

    \n\n
    Unknown column 'last_revision_id' in 'exp_wiki_page'

    \n\n
ALTER TABLE `exp_wiki_page` CHANGE `last_revision_id` `last_revision_id` INT(10) NULL DEFAULT NULL

    \n\n
    Filename: /nfs/c02/h10/mnt/42156/domains/beckerz.com/html/ee_system/expressionengine/modules/wiki/upd.wiki.php

    \n\n
    Line Number: 201

    "}

I bought this 2.0 version almost a year ago…Each time i attempt an upgrade i have issues.  I feel so close this time.  Can someone help me get this done?

    Rick,
Can you try and upgrade to EE1.7 first and when you are sure that’s fine then you can try the upgrade to EE2.1.3

Did you have the Wiki module installed at any stage?

Yes the wiki module was installed, but never used.

I can’t upgrade to 1.7.  I only have the option to download 2.x.  Is this really the only solution?

You get the option in your download area to choose EE1.x or EE 2.x on the license terms page

Before your upgrade try uninstalling the Wiki module

Now I see it.  Do i have to restore all my files and databases back to 1.6 before i install 1.7?

Ok..I have 2.0 up and running. However, I can’t get my secondary sites to work.  I run 3 web sites (separate URLS).  Under 1.x they were set up as different “weblogs.”  Looks like in 2.0 they are “channels.”  I am getting the following error on one of my other sites:

“Your system folder path does not appear to be set correctly. Please open the following file and correct this: index.php”

Ok..i have all sites running.  Still have minor formatting issues to resolve.  But I think I can handle it on my own.  Happy Holidays and thanks for the help!
