Default Text Formatting for Select Dropdowns

I am rocking EE version 2.1.2 Build 20101215.

I reproduced this on a fresh install. I would like to know if I am doing something incorrectly, or if this is a bug.

What I am trying to accomplish is a select dropdown custom field with a default text formatting of None.

Here are the options I am using:

    Field Type: Select Dropdown
    Field Label: Dropdown
    Field Name: dropdown
    Field Instructions:
Is this a required field?: No
    Is field searchable?: No
Show this field by default?: Yes
    Field Display Order: 2
Default Text Formatting for This Field: None
Allow override on publish page?: No
Populate the menu manually: One, Two, Three, Four (these values are all on separate lines in the textarea field)

The problem comes when I try to display the value of the dropdown - it gets wrapped in paragraph tags. To set the formatting to None I must go back to the Edit Field settings, change the Default Text Formatting for This Field to something else, save, then set the Default Text Formatting for This Field back to None (and checking Update all existing channel entries with your new formatting choice?)

There’s an even bigger issue here.. when I did something similar on my 2.1.2 local install, the body field that should have been set to xhtml was set to nothing. Same thing with the dropdown field.

I’ve created a Bug report on your behalf. Thanks for reporting this, and hopefully we’ll get a quick turn around to the problem.
