i need to put up a plain-html-temp website for a client whose current website is an EE version 1.6.8.
i also need to edit his EE website (in the meantime while the temp one is up) and then reinstall it back so that the client can make edits to it.

how do i go about doing this? can i just take down all his files and install them on another website? or is this something that your support team has to do?
i have his log in info, do you need anything else?

    thanks.

    martak,

Keep the EE website in place. Just turn it off in your General configuration for the general public.
Then in your off-line template in your EE control panel add whatever was going to be in the index file of the temp HTML website. You can then add the rest of your HTML files to the root of the server.

So you are in fact seeing the EE off-line page but it is made to look like the HTML site.

or is this something that your support team has to do?

This would not be covered under EE technical support. This is something you as the designer/developer will need to do.

i have his log in info, do you need anything else?

You will probably need his FTP details too.

    Does that help?
