    Hi there,

I have just come across an error on one of my sites in development where trying to login to the CP via safari results in nothing happening.
Entering incorrect details produces the expected error.
Otherwise, any account I try to log in with, even registering a member after this has occurred in a different browser, returns the same login page instead of logging me in.

I can see from other posts that people have found solutions in changing the session type to cookies.
However, I always change the session type to cookies after installing a system, so for the past couple of weeks it’s been working fine under that setup.
Nothing about the .htaccess or url structure has changed, it’s just suddenly stopped logging me in.
I have tried emptying the session data out of the table in the database, but that also had no effect.

Does anyone have any insight as to what else I can try and why this might have happened?

    Thanks,
    Andy Parsons

This has only happened recently, i.e. been working fine before? Does this only affect Safari, have you tried with other browsers? What version and build of EE are you using?

    Hi Ingmar,

The system was installed as 1.7.0 (Build:  20101018 since it was installed along with MSM at the start), so it’s the latest version and hasn’t gone through any upgrade process.
I’m using safari on a mac, my development browser of choice. Both Firefox and Chrome work fine, but Safari no longer logs me in.
It wouldn’t be a problem with the server as it’s on a dedicated server I own.
Despite using MSM, no new sites have been added for over a week, but it was working fine until yesterday. It literally stopped working overnight.
Is there anything you can advise?

    Thanks,
    Andy Parsons

Are you using “Enable GZIP Output”? Try turning it off.
