    Hey everyone,

Did anyone out there buy the US conference dvds? Did you actually received them?

40 long nights ago I bought the US dvds from Whoooz Media here. In the product description is mentioned that buyers will also access to all videos online.

So far I never received anything, not even online access to any kind of materials.

I did received a kinda shy tweet from @eeci2010 saying “@cmfarm Yep, will send more info about that later today. Good thing: DVD’s have been resend yesterday.” twenty days ago. I tried to reach the company by phone, forms and emails, but nobody seemed able to answer my brief questions.

I’m not here to complain, is just I’m so eager to see the darn videos, I’ve been eating cookies all day long and lost all my hair. Then I figured there might be anyone on the community that could shed a light on this and see if I should be waiting or asking for a paypal refund instead.

    Any thoughts? Anyone?

I know Robert sent some out a while back. They are in a conference now so they might not be as available as usual. I’ll see what I can find out. While EllisLab doesn’t help in the shipping of the DVDs, I’m happy to ask if we know what the state is.

I had ordered them roughly 2 months ago, and I recently contacted Whoooz about it. Turns out the initial shipment they sent me was lost in the mail, and they sent out a new copy which I happily received on monday.

Are those DVDs worth the cost of EE itself? Is there a preview?
    Thanks.

Honestly? It’s been a huge dissapontment.

We bought the US dvds because we were eager to see Greg Wood’s presentation (from erksine). We saw the slides at http://gregorywood.co.uk/journal/editorial-design-with-expressionengine and were absolutely thrilled.

Sadly, Whoooz! have reduced the presentations from 50 minutes to 10, turning lead-industry presentations into short bursts of time-waster thoughts with no context. Is the kind of stuff you’d like to see on Vimeo, but not the kind of stuff you’d pay for. Its plain merchandising, when it was supposed to be stuff to study, analyze and grow upon.

On top of it, the guys at Whoooz have been absolutely unresponsive (at least on my case) so I can’t even have the pleasure of giving feedback or returning the videos. They don’t seem to care.

I just hope this “details” get a better supervision from EllisLabs & the community in the future. We’re in an industry already populated with friends-of-a-friend reviews (“buy my associate’s book, it’s life-changing!”) and if the quality and reach of these EE event’s aftermath is controlled only by lobbyists, we are jeopardizing the undeniable quality level of our expanding community.

Hope my “thumbs down” kinda review helps you to save a 100 bucks! Spend it on a huge turkey!

    Happy thanksgiving!

Thanks creativemediafarm, much appreciated. Generally I don’t go for these DVDs but then again I have not made it any conference of sorts so I thought that I am missing out on something.

Sadly this is very true and even more obvious in small circles such as EE crowd.
You did save me from owning a coaster, thanks.

Happy thanksgiving to you as well.

    Hey Guys,

I agree, they’ve been pretty hard to get in touch with and get a response. I had to send off a few emails and twitter message before I got a reply and explanation. According to what was explained to me, the DVDs were supposed to have the entire talk for each presentation, but due to some mixup only ended up having about 10 minutes of each.

I got an email from them a while back with a username and password to view the videos in their entirety online, and I figured this would have gone out to everyone who placed an order.

I never received the actual DVD itself, but apparently a mailman in Canada was stealing lots of packages over an extended period of time, so that may account for it.

@Tony, that is some really good information. I would of never known there was full versions online anywhere. It would definately be helpful if they either reprinted the dvds or at the very least sent out everyone the username/password + discount for the mishap…

You should probably make another try contacting them so that you can at least view the videos online.

The US 2010 Conference DVDs indeed only features 10 minutes - major let down. The videos were put online in full.

However, what annoyed me most was when I placed the order it was done through Whoooz Media who are based in the Netherlands. So it would be fair to assume that they would be posted by Whoooz Media.

At no point was I told that they would be shipped from America by the media partner which then landed me with a further $30 custom bill. Needless to say I was not amused and never received a response as to why this happened.

The presentations themselves were very good (the ones I watched).
