I have several sites running EE but one in particular has terrible performance. Sometimes pages load swiftly, sometimes it takes up to 7 secs or more (same page). It almost seems like a timeout connecting to the host. For example, one page for example yields

    Loading Time: Base Classes 0.0774
    Controller Execution Time ( Ee / Index ) 1.4501
    Total Execution Time 1.5279
    and
    Loading Time: Base Classes 1.9450
    Controller Execution Time ( Ee / Index ) 5.0083
    Total Execution Time 6.9536

Same page. The performance is all over the board. Here is a link to the dev site in progress.http://www.twobucks.us/index.php?/events The site is on GoDaddy Linux server. It requires me to use query strings, from what I have determined.

Sorry, this thread is supposed to be in EE2 Technical Support.

rt, it’s always helpful to turn on Template Debugging.  You can usually see exactly where a slowdown is happening then.  Which will give you an idea of what in EE is causing the issue.

It sounds a lot like an SQL server that is right on the edge of buckling under the load except that your saying this site hasn’t actually gone live yet right?  Is this a shared hosting environment?

Yes, it is not live yet. Minimal to no traffic, just dev. Sometimes a page will load quickly, but many times the request seems to hang until the page loads instantly. I will have to verify, but it is probably on a shared hosting environment on GoDaddy. I have others on shared hosting on GoDaddy without issue. And I do use the template debugging and there isn’t any particular slowdown or hangup that I can notice. It is almost like the server request/response is where the issue is. Sometimes it’s snappy, sometimes it seems to take a while for the server to respond.

Any chance you can still show us what the template debug spits out?

If there’s really no sign of anything in there than it doesn’t sound much like it’s EE that’s hanging.  What happens if you ping just a static object on that same domain over and over again.  Does it still hang periodically?

it sounds to me like your hosting environment and their bandwidth is hitting busting point! but check your output and debugging to check for lag.
If its the delays in the control panel - check for NSM Addon Updater checker addon. This has been causing others some serious lag of late.

Thanks all, and I agree, it sounds like a server issue unfortunately. I’ve noticed erratic speeds myself on GoDaddy.

Let us know if any of these suggestions help narrow things down further.
