The {total_entries} tag in a template is spitting out ‘65454’, but in the Recount Statistics page in the Control Panel, the total entries is ‘21992’.

    Huh?

    (EE 2.1 build 20101020)

Hi, Sean. How did do you get the entries in there? Is your version really 2.1.0? With that build number, the version should be 2.1.1. What does it day in the actual footer of the page?

    Yes, sorry, it’s EE 2.1.1.

Entries have been created by guests using the SafeCracker add-on.

    I’ve not used SafeCracker yet.

Have you do the recount at Tools > Data > Recount Statistics?

Yes, I’ve done the recount function. No change.

    Hi Sean,

You’re referring to the total_entries variable of the {exp:stats} tag, right? Or is this the global variable?

    Yes, the total_entries in exp:stats.

    Sean,

If you goto your Edit page does the pagination under the entry listing say something like

Showing 1 to 50 of 21992 entries (filtered from 65454 total entries)

    I can replicate locally.

It looks like I have duplicates in the exp_channel_titles and exp_channel_data tables so your total entries tag is only counting 1 of the duplicates

My site was upgraded from a previous version so unsure of what stage this happened at. Was yours a fresh install or upgraded from previous versions

I will need to start with a fresh install and try and replicate again.

We will update in this thread when we have investigated it further. Thanks for your patience

Without any filtering options it reads:

    Showing 1 to 150 of 22596 entries

When I add a filter, it reads:

Showing 1 to 150 of 20327 entries (filtered from 22597 total entries)

This install was fresh at 2.0 (forget which build) and has been updated to 2.1, then 2.1.1, with a few build updates in between.

Not sure what’s become of this, but we (Solspace) are noticing a similar issue as well.

We were seeing this on a per member count in the User module during some testing in EE2. User just pulls the stats from EE and I double confirmed this by checking out the regular EE Member templates - on the profile page for one member says “Total Channel Entries: 17”, where the real count is actually “64”. On another profile it says “Total Channel Entries: 2”, where the real count is actually “6”.

    Using v2.1.1 - Build: 20101020

    😊

PIe Man - thanks for the additional information.  Are you also seeing the duplicate entries that John Henry noted in post #7?

    Hi Lisa,

No, I am not seeing any duplicate entries in those tables. 😊

I have 72 entries in the tables (none are dupes) and Edit page is showing 72 entries, and a total of 72 entries does sound about right 😊

    Hi,

This is 72 entries with an open status or 72 with a variety of statuses?

    Cheers

Good question… 71 of them are in “Open” status, and 1 is in “Closed” status. There is not a single CUSTOM status even created 😊
