I am trying to make a list of “hot topics” or “active topics” from my weblog entires.
Can someone tell me what query is used to to decide weather a topic is “hot topic” or not? Also, how it is decided is a topic is “active topic” or not?

Hopefully I can do the same for my weblog entries.

First off, there is no need to bump threads in “Tech Support”. We have a queue and will get to all threads in the order they are posted, usually within one business day (at the latest).

That said, a “hot topic” refers to a thread with at least 15 postings, and an “active” one is a thread that’s seen some traffic today. Does that help?

I thought that there was a little more “magic” to it.

I would like to create a list of “hot or active weblog entries”, so that the ones getting more attention (comments, views, subscriptions) recently would end up higher on the list.

I’ve looked in the database and I think that the following fields could be used:
    exp_weblog_titles.recent_comment_date
    exp_weblog_titles.comment_total
exp_weblog_titles.view_count (as we are using this field for our entries)
    exp_comments.comment_date

I am just not sure how to use them. There must be a simple way to come up with a solution.
For example if there were 3 comments to a topic in the last hour, it should be higher on the list then the entry with 3 comments 2 hours ago, and so on.

No more magic to it, no 😊 I am sure you could come up with a series of SQL queries to get that info, but there’s nothing built into EE just like that. Let me move this thread to the CodeShare Corner for some additional community support. Thanks.
