Using the latest forum module with EE 2.1.0 and the preview post/topic buttons yield a blank page. Turning on output debugging works, but gives me no hints as to why no HTML is being spat out above the debug info.

I am using PHP in my templates, and I’ve tried switching back to one of the default templates but with the same result.

    Any ideas?

Can you try to upgrade to EE 2.1.1? Make sure to be on the last version for both the forum module and EE.

Upgraded the client to the latest build of EE (20101018), and the Forum module as well.

Still having the same issue with the preview page being completely blank.

We’ve also tried disabling PHP in the forum, with no improvement.

Just discovered that this only appears to be an issue when using the {exp:forum} tag… Which unfortunately is pivotal in this site.

We are now on EE build 20101020, with Forum build 20101018

    The problem is unchanged.

hd, with one of the default templates and PHP not turned on in the template, does the same thing happen?

Ok, after a bunch of testing, I found this occurs when using the {exp:forum} tag inside an embedded template. If everything is in the same template (a single template, no embeds), the preview pages function normally.

What do you have in that template? If you’re running the forum through regular templates you shouldn’t have anything but the single {exp:forum} tag.

I realize that now, was trying to push things a bit so that I could embed other templates before and after the exp:forum.

Everything seems to be working fine in that regard, so long as the exp:forum tag is NOT in a template that is embedded (top level template).

So is that something you can live with for the moment?

Glad you have a workaround. Don’t hesitate to post again as needed.

hd - just to clarify, you can put those embeds directly into the forum themes themselves, exactly where you want them to appear.  That is what using {exp:forum} allows you to do - make the forums run through the full template parser so you can use those tags in the theme files. =)
