This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    I’m having the same problem
Both EE and the MSM module were downloaded today

Incidentally, the general config etting to turn MSM on never appeared, I set it manually in the config file.

EE info tab in the CP says

“The current version of ExpressionEngine is v2.1.0 Build 20101020 “
Is this an error, the download page says:
    “Current Version: 2.1.1 - Build: 20101020”

    Update:

Completely clean install of EE 2.1 and MSM, both downloaded today.
Then I go to Admin > General Config is still don’t get an option to enable MSM

    Any ideas?

Upgraded from the freelancer install to a non-comm license after reading the comparison table.
    Still no joy.

No option in Admin > general config

I can create a site from the link in the “Create panel” on the cp homepage but no way tp swap to that site to manage it.

I am not running the latest build - but it is working and showing for me. In the top right hand corner of the control panel, normally you can click the site name to get a drop down to appear - this is not appearing for you either?

Is this a fresh install? i.e. no other plugins or anything present?
Are you using the default theme? etc?

Absolutely clean, brand new site. No plugins or anything.

Just noticed something, although I upgraded the freelancer edition I was using to non-comm, the footer in the CP still says:

    Freelancer v2.1.1 - © Copyright 2003 - 2010 EllisLab, Inc.
Script executed in 0.0710 seconds - 22 SQL queries used - Build:  20101020

I’m going to trash and try again, back in a moment….

OK, tried again from scratch. This time I uploaded all the MSM files before I went through the install wizard.

Menus and wotnot are all appearing as they should. I’m just concerened what might happen when we take an existing site into ann MSM, but todays concern is over

glad its solved - i am guessing it was a conflict between the original Freelance version and MSM, so other commercial sites should not have the same issues.

You might also find when you upgraded from Freelance to Commercial you only uploaded over the top, rather than removing and uploading the new system. Uploading over the top might have left files still there from freelance, or perhaps not successfully overwritten them.

I have successfully built one site, then uploaded the MSM, and started from there - and so it does work that way around (at least in pre 2.1.1 version!).
Glad it is working anyway. N

Glad to see that one’s been resolved. Please don’t hesitate to post again in case there’s anything else.
