    Hi

We’re considering extending an existing project using EE (1.6.9, ashamedly we haven’t upgraded yet).

We’re looking at allowing certain users to have their own subdomain on the site, so:

    http://foo.bar.com
    http://baz.bar.com

    etc.

Now, I’ve looked at wildcard subdomains using .htaccess, which seems a viable solution without having to manually create a subdomain for each user.

I’m hoping that we can somehow integrate this with EE and just one template group, which gets user-specific data/templates depending on the subdomain.

    http://foo.bar.com/page

so, template group “page” looks up any entries posted by user “foo” and the like.

we could just create template groups for each user, but i’d rather not. plus a subdomain looks nicer than having site.com/some-company/template/article.

does this make sense? Can clarify if required.

    thanks for any pointers.

I have exactly the same question, just wanted to post it and found your post.
I would love to know too if this can be dome with EE. Would be great for member profiles and personal pages.
