This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    Hi

I’ve been running MAMP for a while, and had an EE site (testsite1) built with the Core version. I set up an EE2.01 site yesterday (testsite2), and it seemed fine, but when I accessed the Control panel today there was a Notice
“An unexpected error occurred attempting to download the current ExpressionEngine version number. Please visit your Download Account to verify you are on the current version. If this error persists, please contact your system administrator”

I’ve checked the config file and it looks OK. The app_version is ‘210’, my license number is correct and so are other fields. However, in the post (‘Version Update form 2.0.2pb01 to 2.1’) about a similar problem I noticed that Brandon advised checking the exp_member_groups for a field named can_access_fieldtypes. Apparently, if it is present, the installation should be up-to-date.

I had a look in testsite2’s exp_member_groups for this field, and it isn’t there.

My online EE profile says Current Version: 2.1.0 - Build: 20100810

I deleted the old site (testsite1) built with EE core (I removed the files and also the database) but on restarting MAMP and testsite2 the warning is still there. Should I reinstall EE 2.01 and set up testsite2 again from scratch?

    Hi MerryK,

    Welcome to the forums!

Can I clarify? You weren’t upgrading a copy of testsite1 to EE 2?  If this is a completely separate install then please go to your download area on this site and download an up to date copy of EE 2.1.0 build 20100810 - the latest version - and set up a fresh install with that.

    Cheers

    Greg

No - I wasn’t upgrading a site - it was a separate install. However I think should have deleted my old site built in EE core before I installed my new EE 2.1.0 site - I guess the old one got in the way. The new site is fine now after I reinstalled.
