I’m trying to use my “Communicate” tab to send an email.  I can’t.  Here’s the debugging message:

    Hi The Dean,

Which version and build of EE are you using? Are you able to connect to your SMTP server and send email successfully if you use these credentials in an email client?

    Cheers

    Version 1.6.9.

I don’t know how to do the email as you have described.  I guess I just don’t use it that way…

    Hi The Dean,

What I meant was, are you certain that the mail server address, username and password that you are using in the Email Configuration work correctly. You can check this by setting up an email account in Outlook/Thunderbird/Apple Mail or similar and using those details for the outgoing server and then sending a test email.

Have you tried sending email using PHP Mail or Sendmail instead of SMTP?

    Cheers

    Greg
