hi
i have a add new page for Products with a Relationship Field so you can select another product to show on the same page. A ‘Or How about this’ box at the side of the page.

The problem is that after a couple of years the ‘another’ product list is huge as it shows all OPEN, DISCONTINUED AND CLOSED products.

When i just want to show OPEN.

Is there a way to do this?

What version and build of EE are you using? Are you talking about the pull down menu in the control panel?

its ExpressionEngine 1.6.8.

in: CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Field Groups ›  Custom Fields > Field Group:  Products
i have a custom field with a Field Type set to Relationship: Related Product 1
i have set the Select display criteria for PUBLISH page: Sort by title, Descending,  All.

Then when CP Home ›  Publish ›  New Entry >New Product
This Related Product 1 field allows me to select a product from all the products i have ever listed.

But there seems to be no way of getting the field to just list Status:Open products.

Does that make more sense?

tom,

no there is no way out of the box to do this.I know what you mean by the list becoming unwieldy with a lot of items in it. There is however Playa which gives you filters for that list by category,status etc. It is a commercial add-on though and you will also need to upgrade to EE1.6.9
