    Hello guys, just installed the french laguage pack on EE2.0

    I browsed thru the files and noticed that the User Messages generated using the User Message Template seemed to be pulled from the various files. However it keeps pulling all the message from the EN pack rather then the FRENCH pack I just installed.

    I configured the default language in the Admin->General configuration to FRENCH
    I even configured my accoutn’s localization preferences to French.
    I cleared all cookies , logged out and evertyhing still comes out in English, even when I log back in the CP with my settings to French, everything still in EN.

    thanks for any help!

    Any ideas ? using EE2
    Language preferences in general configuration & localization settings are not taking effect in the CP and front-end User Messages. Please let me know if you have a chance… thanks.

    Hi, codeM. Which version/build of EE2.x are you using? You can find that at the bottom of any control panel page.

    NOTE: There was a recent change to the language files that involved a name change of the files. Most of the language files haven’t been updated to the newer naming convention yet. Might that be the case for you?

    Can you please try to upgrade to the latest build, 20100810? It would help us to rule out file corruption issues and mean we’re on the same page in terms of code. Thanks.

    Hello Ingmar, thanks for the reply I updated the build to current one (20100810)

    Now I am getting the following error message when I try to log in the CP :
    Unable to load the requested language file: language/french/expressionengine_info_lang.php

    Looked in the language pack download there is no such file, redownloaded the pack from the EE website, looked in there, no such file…

    I created an empty file, named it expressionengine_info_lang.php and now the CP works in FRENCH but I’m sure there needs to be something in there or rename one of the existing files to expressionengine_info_lang.php

    please confirm, thanks!!

    codeM,

    that file is something the creators of the French language pack would have to include if you wish to follow up with them. They may have just overlooked it. It is for the default Accessory included with EE.

    What you have done is perfectly ok. For reference this is what is inside the English expressionengine_info.php if you wish to add the translated version to your newly created file.

    <?php

    $lang = array(

    'expressionengine_info'    => 'ExpressionEngine Info',

    'resources'                => 'Resources',
    'documentation'            => 'Online Documentation',
    'support_forums'        => 'Technical Support Forums',
    'downloads' => 'My ExpressionEngine Store Downloads',
    'support_resources'        => 'Support Resources',

    'version_and_build'        => 'Version and Build',
    'error_getting_version' => 'Could not retrieve the current version number at this time',
    'version_info' => 'The current version of ExpressionEngine is %v Build %b',

    ''=>''
    );

    /* End of file lang.expressionengine_info.php */
